Travelling to Oxford From Airports

Heathrow airport is the nearest airport to Oxford.

Express coaches leave every 30 minutes from Heathrow and every 2 hours from Gatwick. On arrival at Heathrow follow signs to coach station (central bus station). The X80 runs from Gatwick and Heathrow, and the X70 runs from Heathrow only. The journey time from Gatwick is around 2 hours and from Heathrow it is 90 minutes.

If arriving on the day of your meeting the coaches stop at "Gipsy Lane" right outside the main entrance to Oxford Brookes University. If you are arriving the night proceeding your meeting, stay on the coach until you get to the terminus (Gloucester Green) and take a taxi to your hotel / guesthouse.

By Road

If you are travelling from the south on the M40, you should leave at junction 8 and follow the signs for Oxford along the A40 and then follow the signs for the city centre on the London Road.

If you are travelling from the north on the M40, you should leave at junction 8a and follow the signs for Oxford along the A40 and then follow the signs for the city centre on the London Road.

If you are coming to Oxford via another route you are advised to take the ring road to the Headington Roundabout and follow the signs to the city centre on the London Road.

While on the London Road you will pass through the Headington main shopping area and further on you might notice the distinctive blue and ivory University signs for Dorset House and Mary Macdonald Hall situated on the left.

Pass straight over the traffic lights with the White Horse public house on the right hand side and then at the next set of traffic lights turn left and Gipsy Lane Campus is on the right.

Car Parking At Brookes

Please inform Katherine Smart (kasmart@brookes.ac.uk) if you require parking as this need to be booked at least 48 hours in advance with Site Services.

On arrival at Oxford Brookes University (Gipsy Lane Campus) please report to the car-parking attendant, located at the main gate, who will show you to your pre-booked space.

By Rail

The nearest train station to Smart Brewing Services is Oxford.

Great Western Trains operate inter-city services from London, South Wales, the Cotswolds and the West of England.

Once at Oxford station you can get a taxi or a bus for the remainder of the journey to Brookes University.

Oxford Bus Services

Park & Ride

400 Thornhill - Gipsy Lane - City - Seacourt

Free car parking is available at Thornhill (east side) and the Park & Ride service runs approximately every 8-10 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes during the evening. The journey time to Gipsy Lane is usually between 5 to 10 minutes.

If starting from the west side of the city centre at Seacourt (there is a parking charge of 50p per day) the 400 journey time is at least 15-20 minutes as the bus has to pass through the city centre.

Oxford Train Station

The Cityline service 22 to Ringhurst picks up immediately outside the entrance to the train station and drops on request at Gipsy Lane.

Services run between 7.32am and 7.00pm on weekdays (every 30 minutes) and 8.32am and 6.30pm on Saturdays (every 60 minutes). There are no later services during the week or on Sundays.

The Arriva 280 to Aylesbury also picks up from outside the station approximately every 30-40 minutes during the day (and on the hour from 8pm - 11pm) and will drop at Gipsy Lane on request.

The Park and Ride 400 picks up in Park End Street and will set down on request at Gipsy Lane every 8-10 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes during the evening.

Oxford Bus Station - Gloucester Green

The nearest stop to Gloucester Green station for buses to Gipsy Lane is on George Street.

Cityline services 2, 2a and 2b will pick up from here (A5 bus stop) and will stop at Gipsy Lane on request.

City Centre Bus Stops

Stagecoach services 7A picks up from George Street (A1 bus stop) and Queen Street (F1 bus stop) and will set down at Gipsy Lane on request.

Cityline services 2, 2a and 2b will pick up from George Street (A5 bus stop), New Road (D1 bus stop) and Queen Street (F2 bus stop).

Park and Ride picks up in New Road, Queen Street and High Street.

10B Service Weekly tickets at £5 can be purchased from the driver on production of Brookes i-d.

Outside Oxford

The Oxford Tube (http://www.stagecoach-oxford.co.uk/oxfordtube/) services from London and the Oxford CityLink services (http://www.oxfordbus.co.uk/) from Gatwick and Heathrow airports stop at Gipsy Lane on request.
